LO #1:  Dog can sit politely for petting. Handler can talk to his/her dog and use gentle restraint while the instructor or a stranger gently and briefly pets him.

Hannah passed the sitting politely for a petting and physical appearance check portions of the CGC with flying colors. She is also a frequent flier at the veterinarian's office and is used to being handled.

LO #2: The dog is regularly under control in class.

Hannah is always on a lead in class and she has never tried to run away from me.

LO #3: The dog can walk attentively at the handler’s side on a pre-plotted course including a left turn, a right turn,and an about turn. He need not be perfectly aligned with the handler and need not sit automatically when the handler stops.

Again, Hannah passed the walking on a loose lead portion of the CGC easily. The course for that test included a left turn, a right turn, an about turn, and a sit command. She can do u-turns on the left and right sides, as well.

LO #4: The dog must respond to the sit and down commands both at the handler's side and in the front position. The handler may use signals/gestures and repeat a command within reason. No food luring is allowed for this test.

You can see in the video that Hannah can do a puppy push-up in which she goes from a sit to a down to a sit to a down. I did use food treats in the video, but she passed the CGC test with no treats.

LO #5: The dog should be able to stay in place for at least 20 seconds in both the sit and down position while the handler is at the end of a 6-foot leash.

Hannah did this in the CGC test and you can see her staying with distractions in the video "stay with distractions."

LO #6: The dog should respond to the come command in controlled situations. For purposes of this test, the handler will heel forward and then upon instruction back up and call the dog. The dog should respond quickly,and happily return to the handler.

Hannah absolutely can do this in controlled situations. You can see her coming to me in the "come" video. One of our goals is to improve on this in less controlled situations, like at a park.
